Nestled in the hills above Pasadena is a sprawling modernist campus that one might easily mistake for the headquarters of Ex Machina’s Mark Zuckerberg-esque evil genius. It’s silent, serene, and for one Sunday a year, covered in some tremendous automobiles. The ArtCenter is one of the few colleges in the world that produces the designers and artists that will eventually shape the future of the automotive industry, so it was appropriate that a steward of the past, Jay Leno, and a predictor of the future, Syd Mead, were both on hand to talk about the intimate intersection.

As with most shows, the best time to capture the action is before everybody shows up, known as “Dawn Patrol”. Our own Afshin Behnia was showing his Alfa Romeo and was lucky enough to catch that magical dawn light as some exceptional cars rolled into place.

We’ll see you there next year.

And is that a Woodill Wildfire that I see? How about an article on that and other obscure American sports cars?

This Tatraplan was my personal CarClassic highlight: authentic harmony between gentleman, dog&vehicle. #perfektimperfekt
