Snag a Historic XK120 in Iconic Colors for Summer Motoring

It’s no secret we love the XK120, and this time of year, we’re especially interested in powerful drop-tops with musical soundtracks—al fresco nighttime summer drives are one of life’s greatest simple pleasures, after all, an experience made all the more special by a great old car.

This particular example looks gorgeous in iconic cream-white over gray hide, and is claimed to be one of the cleanest and most reliable XK120s around. Said to be matching numbers and highly original, no mention of any restoration work is made—we’re not sure that means it’s an untouched survivor, but it’s not outside of the realm of possibility… perhaps a quick email to the seller would clear up that little mystery.

Once owned by Bob Grossman, a six-time Le Mans veteran and member of Briggs Cunningham’s old race team, the car is claimed to have received several modern concessions to safety and convenience with an equal effort to maintain its authenticity. The engine shots are incredible, the level of design detail intrinsic to the classic Jag straight six nearly beyond comprehension in this day of plastic shrouded motors.

Offered with a BIN just a shade under $90k, this beautiful old XK is by no means inexpensive, but seems to represent a bit of a bargain for such a historic and well-preserved example, provided of course these claims check out. Nine hundred, one hundred dollar bills buys a lot of vintage British roadsters several times over, but perhaps none this side of an E type carry the same importance or sense of occasion as the very first XK.

These cars are definitely even more beautiful in person. I think its because you just dont realize how small they are from photoso but the proportions are spot on when you see one on the road.
