Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider Previously Owned By John Squire Of The Stone Roses Is Coming Up For Sale

The Classic Car Auctions (CCA) event is just around the corner and the organizers have announced that there will be 151 lots going up for auction at the UK’s Warwickshire Event Centre on May 25. The vehicles on offer range from full restoration projects to pristine and original examples from a variety of manufacturers across a range of categories and eras.

One of the most notable and desirable of all is a 1969 Alfa Romeo Duetto Boat-Tail Spider, originally owned by Stone Roses guitarist John Squire. He imported the car to the UK in 2001 and had it restored to an extremely high standard. The car comes with a comprehensive history file of the work undertaken including invoices amounting to £49,000 ($63,000). The Duetto Spider is finished in a period grey with lovely burgundy leather interior and door cards. It is expected to fetch between £26,000 ($33,000) and £30,000 ($38,000).

There are a number of other interesting cars included, such as Rowan Atkinson’s Mercedes-Benz 500E, and two cars from Harry Metcalfe of Harry’s Garage. Gary Dunne, Classic Car Auctions sales manager, commented, “We are absolutely delighted that Rowan Atkinson CBE has chosen Classic Car Auctions to sell his Mercedes. We are often asked to sell cars on behalf or directly for well-known individuals. This is a special car for him and offered at No Reserve. It has created a lot of interest, as all of his cars usually do.”

A stunning Estoril Blue 1999 BMW Z3M Roadster deserves a special mention too; this one-owner car has covered just 6000 miles since new and is estimated to sell for between £28,000 ($36,000) and £32,000 ($41,000). Fans of older convertibles may be interested in a 1964 Mercedes 230SL Pagoda, which has been in a family ownership for 43 years. There is also a Sepia Brown 1971 Porsche 911T on offer, fully restored recently but with a later-era 2.7-liter motor and a gap in its history, which contribute to the £50,000 ($64,000) to £60,000 ($77,000) estimate. Interested parties can view the lots the day before the event.
