This has been a record-breaking year for Goodwood, with an unprecedented number of attendees and participants enjoying its legendary motoring events. With the popularity of these events growing each year, it has become essential to start planning well in advance to avoid disappointment and Goodwood has not wasted any time in announcing its flagship motorsport events calendar for 2020.

First off will be the 78th Member’s Meeting, which will be held on 28 and 29 March. It has always been meant solely for members of the Goodwood Road & Racing Club and the GRRC Fellowship, and though it has sometimes been possible for non-members to buy tickets, it’s likely to get more difficult every year. The Meeting features a diverse array of races including the S.F. Edge Trophy for pre-1923 cars and the Gerry Marshall Trophy for Group One touring cars from 1970-81.

Next up is the Goodwood Festival of Speed: the motoring extravaganza will run from 9 to 12 July to avoid clashing with the British Grand Prix taking place the following weekend.

This year saw the Festival of Speed draw a crowd of 200,000 visitors who got to see the world debut of 22 cars, plenty of racing action up the Goodwood hill climb (including the record-setting VW ID.R) as well as extreme drifting action. With so many additional stands, themed events and displays to enjoy, the four-day event is almost too short to take it all in.

Ending the 2020 season will be the Goodwood Revival, running from 11 to 13 September. It’s a rather special event that takes you back in time with its vast offering of classic cars, both on and off the track. 2019 saw a crowd of 150,000 visitors get into the spirit of the event by dressing up in period clothing ,which adds greatly to the overall ambiance. This year saw some truly spectacular events such as the Brooklands Trophy for pre-1930 Bentley sports cars and the always popular Kinrara Trophy, which fielded a collection of priceless pre-1963 GT Ferraris, Aston Martins and Jaguars as they raced into the sunset.

Each of these flagship events promise new events to celebrate motoring milestones in the new year. It’s well worth heading over to the Goodwood site and signing up to receive updates as they are released. The Duke of Richmond commented, “It has been an astonishingly successful 2019 season for Goodwood’s motorsport events that has exceeded all expectations in every aspect of the organization. I very much look forward to announcing all of the exciting new elements for our 2020 events program, and to Goodwood delivering another unforgettable year for motorsport fans of all ages.”

Tickets for the 78th Members’ Meeting are already on sale while the Festival of Speed bookings will be open to the public on November 4 or at the end of November for GRRC members.
