The Aston Martin DBS Is An Irrational Desire
I think the irrational reference was not to do with the choice of Aston which is obviously a fantastic brute of a car but rather the life choice of putting it ahead of anything more sensible. I thought the story was a cracker.
I came into some money 10 years ago and dreamed of buying a 288 gto -which was just within my reach if I ditched everything else. Of course I bought the house instead and I now have a crazy Brazilian wife and two crazy kids….
Would I swap them? Probably best not to ask but the dream of owning a classic is stronger than ever & I really take my hat off to this guy for having the balls to follow through on his passion to the expense of all else – at least his brother can’t deny it was a good investment.
Beauty in the imperfections are what makes a classic a classic. Incredible video. The market is really coming around to finally appreciating these cars. There is nothing in my opinion even so much as slightly irrational about wanting a DBS . Simply put .. the DBS was and still is the most aggressive looking and bad****ed car Aston ever made . A Shelby Mustang for the elite if you will . Fact is ironically despite it not being available in the US when new the DBS was and again still is the most ‘ American ‘ Aston Martin ever built as well . So other than the abysmal reliability …. a DBS in my never even the slightest humble estimation is one of the more ‘ rational ‘ classics one might desire . Two thumbs up … and enjoy the beast as its makers intended . Raising cain in and amongst the grand estates of Blighty … scaring the (censored) out of the aristocracy in the process 😉 [ irony and sarcasm with a touch of truth on the last comment most definitely intended ]
