These Are Our 7 Favorite Rally Films From Fiat’s Massive Archive

Since 1974, Lancia and Fiat have won a combined 13 World Rally Constructor’s Championships, often in dominating fashion. In fact, Lancia is still the outright leader in terms of championships, its 10 titles trumping the likes of Audi, Subaru, Ford, Citroën, and Peugeot.

I’m not sure who to thank for trundling around the world to follow these rally teams, but I’m glad they did—this factory-made footage is some of the best from the era.

Races For All is a film that looks at Fiat’s racing activities from 1979, and thankfully, it features narration in English. From the grassroots level all the way to the top, it provides a look at what we wish every manufacturer could provide for its enthusiastic fans.

This is a 20-minute film called “Winning” and it focuses solely on the amazing Martini-liveried 037 Group B rally car and the LC2 sports racing car. (You’re welcome.)

La Lunga Corsa— “The Long Race” is a 1976 racing documentary that follows the fortunes of the factory Fiat 124 Abarth Rally and Lancia Stratos HF Coupé Gr.4 ‘Alitalia’ cars.

The Lancia Delta HF Integrale is a much-loved car around these parts, and though the documentary mentions differentials inside of a minute, it’s worth a look for the great footage of Group A rallying. It’s made to excite prospective buyers on the Integrale road car, so get ready for some early ’90s graphics and synth music once the sales speak starts.

It’s a Fiat 131 Abarth documentary that features horseback riding, board meetings, and testing footage…plus beautiful footage to follow the car’s eventual success in rallying.

We featured this clip of the Lancia Delta S4 a while ago, but it’s far too good to not mention again—the camera angle used for the first 40 seconds or so are inspired, too.

This film is called Rally, and from the early ’70s it shows a great look (in Italian) at the firm’s earlier motorsport and rallying success. There’s some nice Lancia Fulvia footage in this one.
