This Classic Rally Through Montana Is Absolutely Jaw Dropping

My dear Mother lives in Cardston, Alberta, just 15 miles into Canada after the Peigan border crossing. I always try to take my Lincoln MarkVIII in summer and enjoy one run through the park per year while our M35X is better in winter. I sometimes become complacent and forget how beautiful this drive is. We start out with the misty waterfalls of the Columbia Gorge and the patchwork crop circles of the Palouse only to progress to the skirt around Lake Coeur d’Alene, then to the vistas of Lookout and Fourth of July, the twisty lane next to the Clark Fork after St. Regis, where the car is tested at high and low speeds. Then you are approaching Kalispell and the awesome views of Flathead, after which we the climb to the southern edge of Glacier Park, and the renown Izaak Walton Inn. Just when you think your astonishment meter has pegged, Old Chief Mountain comes into view, like an angry sentinel, daring you to approach. Thank heaven my Mom is waiting with hot home-made stew. Never gets old, even having driven this for almost 50 years.
