Obviously, the area around the Nürburgring is the sort of automotive heaven you can’t imagine until you’re in it, rubbing shoulders with rare cars and stripped, trackday mutts alike. The first time I was there, what looked like a genuine Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Roadster was being wheeled around near 911 GT3 RSs and Ford Transit support vans. So imagine what photographer Oliver Selzer was able to capture during the recent AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix.

For 44 years, the event has featured classic and vintage racing cars motoring on one of the world’s oldest circuits. It’s been the benchmark for performance since forever, so it’s only natural that vintage racers would set aside time to visit this remarkable place. This year, Selzer focused on the atmosphere of the ’Ring and the surrounding area, and “diversity” is probably the only way to describe it.

I mean, where else can you see both KITT and a BMW M1 Procar wearing turbofans? Have you been to the Nürburgring and surprised at what cars you saw there?

You can follow more of Oliver Selzer’s work on Instagram @speed.matters and Facebook.’
