I am feeling inspired and energetic with new ideas for travel. My very first car was a Land Rover Discovery 1, they got a special place in my heart. Thank you again for your work.
Absolutely my favorite Petrolicious video of all time…love all cars but have a special place in my heart for utilitarian, simple, go-anywhere vehicles…thanks for the beautiful small journey to paradise…please continue to feature ‘workhorses’ from time to time between all the thoroughbreds!
Truly an amazing and inspirational film.
Makes me wonder why I ever sold my old Classic Range Rovers…different beasts to a Defender maybe, but same sort of ethos….go anywhere, see stuff you can’t see unless you have a pair of hiking boots…and meet people you wouldn’t normally see (like a red-faced farmer with a gun pointing at you telling you to get off his land – yes, in England).
Shame they dont make them like that anymore at JLR – just futuristic gizmo-laden toys for the well off, never to even drive through a forest unless a motorway happens to passes through one.

First off I love the Defender and thoroughly enjoyed this video ;
That said though I must admit this along with every other article/photo shoot / video of Land Rover Defenders raises my ire to an almost intolerable level . Why you ask ? Because the US Government in their infinite wisdom [ with the exceptions of one short window in the 60’s and another in the 90’s ] has seen fit to keep the Land Rover Defender out of our ( US ) hands based on Safety concerns [ like a JEEP Wrangler of any year is in any way safer than the most stripped down Defender available ] Not only constanly preventing JLR from importing them to the US but threatening to impound and crush any that an individual may chose to import independently
So why do I care you ask ? Because I’d love to turn the GLK over to the wife and place a Defender in our garage as my daily driver as well as our greater Rocky Mountain trip car allowing us once again to get back into the Overland experience . But due to the lack of used Defender available as well as the fact that new ones cannot be had that is a dream which will probably never come to be
Rant over . Apologies for venting a bit . A suggestion to anyone interested in the Overland experience . Give Overland Journal magazine a look . A petrolicious magazine if there ever was one assuming you have an interest in Overlanding
This film is nothing less than brilliant. Petrolicious continues to bring us films on the automotive landscape that no other car website brings us. One week it’s a Ferrari 275 GTB/4 and all the beauty that a car like that can bring. The next week we are treated to a vehicle like this Defender. I think unlike any other film this one shows how much our car can contribute to the freedom that a car can bring. That’s what makes us car lovers. And lovers of Petrolicious as well!
