Lamborghini Stops Production For Pandemic Health Precautions

The advent of the coronavirus pandemic has forced the world to take extraordinary steps in slowing its spread, including the cancellation of many events and having workers stay home. And now, supercar manufacturer Lamborghini has also joined the fight.

The Italian company has announced it has closed its factory until at least March 25. The factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese employs more than 1,800 workers and has won the Top Employer Italia award for the seventh consecutive year.

Stefano Domenicali, chairman and chief executive officer of Automobili Lamborghini said in a statement: “This measure is an act of social responsibility and high sensibility towards our people, in the extraordinary situation in which we find ourselves right now in Italy and which is also evolving abroad due to the worldwide spread of Coronavirus.

“As we have done up until now, we continue to monitor the situation in order to react rapidly and with the right flexibility, in collaboration with our people and in order to restart with energy in the right moment.

Italy has been the hardest hit of Europe countries with the virus, and the government has recently taken drastic steps to contain the pandemic, including closing schools, shops and restaurants, banning its citizens from travel and putting strict measures in place for factories and industry.
