This is what Niels has to say about his work:
This Gran Turismo Omologato, based on the Ferrari 308 GTB, was produced from 1984 through 1987 to compete in the new Group B Race series, although due to a lethal accident the FIA canceled the class and the GTO never raced. The Pininfarina designed car is what could be called the first supercar. The Italian design house has always been mastering truly great design execution and the 288 GTO proves this point. The proportions of the 308/328 base car are still there, but the 288 looks are entirely in class of its own. Short, squatted and vicious. The bulging fender flares make room for large Goodyear tires mounted on racing wheels. Large, but well integrated, front and rear spoilers tell the narrative of what this car is about and the iconic four driving lights at the far sides of the grille complete the story. From my perspective a front view sketch showing all these features was the best way to pay homage to this design classic.
