Inside BMW Classic’s Immaculate Restoration Department

In case it wasn’t obvious from instagram, I had the chance to spend a few days with the boys and girls at BMW Group Classic. On the last day, it had our group round the headquarters in Munich, not terribly far from BMW Welt. It’s a typically German affair: chic design, stark edges, crisp bent wood furniture. They’ve got a lovely café, strong coffee, oh—and a warehouse filled with some of the rarest models ever produced.

But one of the most interesting parts of the whole operation was the absolutely spotless, impeccably-outfitted restoration garage. Every inch was spotless, almost suspiciously so. Each bay was occupied by an increasingly rare and stunning classic model, some of which I learned were there to be worked on for customers from around the world.

I asked incredibly nicely, and BMW agreed to let me whip out my camera. Scroll through the shots for a little taste of what I have to assume is one of the cleanest classic car garages in the world. It looks like nearly anything could be rebuilt here, eh?
