2019 is Bentley’s centenary year and if the special edition models and numerous celebratory events haven’t alerted you to the fact then the all-electric EXP 100 GT concept surely will. With the exact date of the 100th anniversary being 10 July, Bentley has kept the excitement building by revealing a solitary image of this ground-breaking new model as well as a short video which essentially teases the same embossed side sill.

According to Bentley, the EXP 100 GT is a “transformative zero-emissions concept car that will inspire extraordinary human experiences through a perfect blend of technology and craftsmanship. It will feature a fascinating array of materials seamlessly blended together by the designers at Bentley Motors, who have taken handcraftsmanship of materials to an as yet unseen level to set the new benchmark for luxury craftsmanship.”

While that admittedly does not reveal much, it does suggest that this new vehicle will be an intriguing blend of traditional Bentley virtues and cutting-edge EV technologies. With the technological backing of parent company VW, the drivetrain is likely to have much in common with the Audi e-Tron GT and Porsche Taycan. Both of these models use the J1 platform which should also underpin the new Electric Bentley. We can expect all-wheel-drive, at least two electric motors and a four-seater two-door bodyshell.

There is also a hint of an autonomous driving mode in the press release but we will get all the technical and visual info of the EXP 100GT on the exact day of the centenary at 16:00 British Summer Time. You can register to watch the reveal here.
