Already had your fill of air-cooled Porsche galleries from last weekend’s Luftgekühlt 5? I hope this one is a bit different. While it’s always fun to watch the photos pop up after the show on social media and in larger collections on other sites, even the coolest subject matter can get a little tiresome if you see the same “hero shots” over and over again from slightly different angles. Trying to take nice photos at an event as crowded and energetic as this one is a test of patience if you don’t want a bunch of legs in the frame, so rather than filling up my time on Sunday replicating Thomas’s wonderful gallery (or trying to anyway), I thought it would be more fun to bring a zoom lens and share a more zoomed-in version of the show. I hope you enjoy this perspective, and if you’re looking for the full cars, fear not, you can find them right here along with our review of the experience overall.
These detail shots really succeed at capturing the magic from that day. Beautifully realized and rendered.
Thank you!
Alex,
This is the gallery I was looking for! After poking around over 100 cars it was the tiny details that set things apart. When I look through my – admittedly crappy – iPhone shots, the details are almost all I captured. Great day in the lumber yard!
Thanks for the kind words!
Last year I came by chance to Luftgekühlt (thanks to a friend fond of cars) and even if I am not myself a car’s guy, I fell in love with these pretty Porsches! I made some photos and yours, very beautiful, remind me this good memory from my trip in California, thank you very much from France!

You’re welcome, and thank you
What’s the story behind the “Ball Buster 3000” on the beater 911 outlaw?
It was just a prop as far as I know, and I’m pretty sure the car belongs to this dude: https://www.instagram.com/joshyrobots/
Wow…just Wow!!! The devil surely is in the detail….
Fantastic shots that I don’t think would have been as good if they were of the whole car!
Thanks for sharing 🙂
More than a few GREAT posters among this treasure trove of pics! Nicely done.
Thanks for the kind words, glad you liked the gallery!
Thanks! glad you liked them
Alex
I have been guilty of complaining about too few full-car pictures in the past, but this collection of detail shots is beautiful! Nicely done and thanks!
Thank you Bryan, I typically prefer full-car shots too, but it’s certainly nice not having to wait for people to move out of the way sometimes!
