Just Because: A Belgian Toyota AE86 That Lives For The Racetrack

A few months ago, Tim Loosen reached out to share his unusually perfect Toyota AE86. He’d found the remarkably original “Corolla GT” in Portugal, and now it lives in Belgium, and is driven and tracked as it was intended to be. Recently, he sent in updated shots of his car, and we thought, “Why not run this car again?”

“Maybe you remember my AE86,” he writes. “It’s stronger than ever, but I’m still doing some work to it since it sees more and more of the track these days. Autumn is a beautiful time to shoot pictures and my buddy, Joris Vanné, took a fresh batch of the hachi.”

If you haven’t read our first piece on the car, you can do so here.

There was a piece about this car (still with Portuguese license plates) on a Portuguese classic car magazine, a couple of months ago.

I might be wrong, but the previous owner was a famous Portuguese racer. One less Corolla GT on Portuguese roads (and I´m sure there aren´t many around here….), Still great car in great condition!

Hi Alexander,

Are you sure it was this car? If so, could you please give me the name of the Portuguese classic car magazine?
I would really love to know more about its history.

Thanks.

Hello Tim,

I´m really glad you saw my post!

I had already thought about searching for the article, and sent it to you!

The name of the magazine is “Motor Clássico”.
Just give me some minutes, and as I browse through the magazines in search of the article!

Found and old article from 2012, but it´s not the same car…. But I know that there´s another article about the GT…

Tommorrow I´ll send an email to the editor (along with this Petrolicious article) , to see if knows a little bit more about the car!
