As a boy, Mr. Radu Muntean was always drawing and painting with a strong emphasis on cars and motor sports. And even though his parents would have liked him to follow a more traditional education and path, they were open enough to indulge his passion, enrolling him at Liceul de Arta Plastica while he continued raced karts.
Upon his arrival in the United States, Radu furthered his education at Art Institute Of Southern California in Laguna Beach but nearing graduation day, and against his family’s wishes, decided to drop out and enroll in the much more prestigious Art Center College of Design’s transportation design program in Pasadena, California.
Upon moving to Art Center College of Design, he knew he had found the right school, graduated, and has since worked for Ford, General Motors and is currently working for Tesla. His style is quick but precise, as befits a working, professional designer, with an emphasis on motion and mood. But in addtion to design and art, Radu has continued racing as well, and is an active Porsche Club of America racer. If you’d like to see more of his work, click here.
I’ve always found automotive artwork to be either absolutely photo realistic or exaggerated to give the sense of motion. To a high degree, I personally think that these pieces consist them both at the same time. They really evoke the posture of a speeding machine while having the necessary details on areas such as the shading of the lamps, reflection of the mirrors/grills/body/wheels… simply amazing. Thanks posting as always, Petrolicious!
WOW you have some serious talent my friend and i have seen some damn good talent on this website. Every car is so vivid and alive in these pieces of art. I always love when a artist can really make you feel as if you are right there seeing the car in action. I think im gonna need more wall space after seeing this artist for sure 😀
