It has been 20 years since Pagani Automobili SpA revealed the Zonda C12 supercar at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show. It’s hard to imagine something that looks this futuristic has been with us for two decades, yet thanks to numerous revisions and special edition models it has never really been out of production. It still remains an extremely rare car with only 140 road-legal models made. Both the Zonda and the subsequent Huayra have cemented Pagani’s place amongst the established heavy-hitters, an impressively rare feat and one that company founder Horacio Pagani is excited to celebrate at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Kicking off the celebrations will be a convoy of nearly 30 Zonda and Huayra models that will set off from London to Goodwood in what will be a record gathering for the marque. Thursday afternoon will see a parade of 20 Zondas take to the Goodwood Hillclimb in what promises to deliver one of the best soundtracks of the weekend. Horacio himself will also be on hand to meet with clients and fans, some of whom will be guests at an exclusive Pagani UK 20th anniversary birthday party held close to Goodwood on the West Sussex coast.
Five significant Zonda models will be brought through from the Pagani Museum in Modena to be put on display throughout the weekend and will include the recently restored chassis #1 C25, a 2009 Zonda Cinque and a one-of-three 2018 Zonda Roadster.
Commenting on its notable 20th anniversary presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Christine Clarkin, Pagani UK’s dealer principal said, “We were really delighted to be so involved with the Goodwood Festival of Speed once again in such a high-profile way, and I can’t wait to see 20 Paganis parading up the Goodwood Hill on the Thursday afternoon as one of the many amazing attractions at this world-leading, must-attend event. She added, “I also can’t wait for what promises to be a very special and memorable 20th-anniversary birthday party for our clients and friends on Friday evening. It will be great, and the icing on the cake of the truly excellent weekend at Goodwood”.
