The car: 1956 Willys Jeep

Price: $5000

Location: La Mirada, California, USA

Seller’s Info: click here

The Larry Shank story we shared about the Willys Jeep CJ-3B that his father bought in 1952 made two things clear: the vehicle continues to be an integral part of his family and, with proper care, rough-and-tumble rigs like it can keep tackling the roads less traveled.

This particular Willys is from 1956 and ready to go on adventures with a new driver. Although it hasn’t stayed in the same family since that time, it has been owned by only two people, including the seller who says the “large radiator keeps the [aftermarket Chevrolet 283 cubic-inch] engine cool, [and] no smoke or leaks [come out].” The wheel cylinders, brake hoses, and tires are new, but the Stewart Warner dashboard and gauges are vintage.

This “Barn Find Jeep” comes with a top, soft doors, and half doors to keep the outside world–such as Utah’s Capitol Reef National Park or The Great Basin–from getting inside.

I believe that’s an early CJ-5, not a CJ-3B.

Nonetheless, it’s good to see a Jeep in the pages of Petrolicious.
