UPCOMING EVENTS: Spread Some Holiday Charity This December At Winter Drive 2018

You know the feeling you get when something special rolls into the parking lot at Cars & Coffee? When the rows of regular attendees are broken up by something you secretly hoped to find but never really expected to. That burst of full-body goosebumps that attends the appearance of the types of cars you woke up at an ungodly early hour to have even the slimmest chance of seeing in person. It’s about the closest thing we have to reliving those “Christmas morning moments,” but not even millions of dollars’ worth of precious hand-formed metal nor laser-precise folds of carbon fiber can command the same voracious happiness of a child who’s just realized the toy they’re unwrapping is the one they wanted the most. It’s a privilege to be infected with this kind of unmoderated enthusiasm, but not every child is so privileged.

Every holiday season, there are some kids who get ridiculously-priced vintage pedal cars from the likes of Nieman Marcus catalogs and they don’t give a rat’s ass about it. Others are happy to have a hot meal with their family. This isn’t meant to be some kind of incendiary conversation-starter pitting public policies against one another in the arenas of taxation and wealth redistribution (there’s plenty of exhausting rhetoric on both sides), it’s simply a reminder that some children are less fortunate than others. As individuals we can still do our part to make their holidays memorable though, and Petrolicious will be joining a great cause this coming weekend as we attend the fifth annual Winter Drive charitable toy drive and car show. It’s one of the largest around, and last year the group collected over 20,000 toys to be donated to charities around the world.

Hosted by our friends at the Purist Group (we featured founder Sean Lee’s NSX in a film last year), the event will draw in hundreds of vehicles—from jacked-up Wranglers to Giulia Sprints—as car enthusiasts from every persuasion come together for a good cause. What’s happening? Purist Group is hosting a toy drive (it is not required that you bring a toy, but everyone attending is encouraged to bring a new, unopened toy with a value around $10 or more), and hundreds of cars will be on display at the event covering just about every major automotive community and niche alike. There will be live music and entertainment, family-friendly activities, contests, raffles, and giveaways as well.
