In my opinion, the best color on a car is white. While white doesn’t always look best on a car, I think the majority of cars look very striking in white. White also has the added benefit of not showing dirt as much and can get away with looking presentable between washings more than a black or silver car can.
Whether it is a classic 911, a Beetle, or an NSX, white is my go-to color of choice.

Now I’d love to hear from you. What color looks best on a car?
The pearl blues always look nice. I remember when I was a kid and I saw a pearl blue Mustang or a 280z. I fell in love with that color. It’s nice and dark but when the sunlight strikes the car, it has an amazing sheen that will catch the gaze of anyone whether it be car guy or not.
White,red and black.
But I’m pretty sure white looks best on my Alfa 75 with it’s sharp & angular design.
Silver will make curves look better. Especially when wet. Black panels look awsome when clean and yes – white is very neutral, making features like chrome and glass stand out.
My choice – silver. For the way my Alfa 156 dances with light π
I second silver. I think it’s the most timeless color and is much more exciting than white. Of course there are some exceptions for certain cars but I’m solidly in the silver camp. Plus white has the chick car reputation. Used to love red but now I find it a little obnoxious.
Can’t go wrong with white. Love the Championship White Honda would slather their R cars with. BMW’s Henna Red is a very close second.
Imola Red !!that’s the perfect colour, I believe!!!;)
Alfa’s Pearl White it’s my second option..
My favorite is silver but honestly depends of the car and the vision.
Red is my favorite with white a close second. Metallic Orange is a real good choice as well. Black only looks good when it’s clean and in bright sunlight. Greys, pale golds, and silvers suck, but seem to be fairly popular for some reason…
To me, it really depends on the car. Silver is the way to go for BMW, Audi, M/B…being a detailer though, I must say black is beautiful!
Yellow always looks good on a sports car, wheter is is Gaillo Modena on a Ferrari, Speed Yellow on a Porsche or that graet Dakar Yellow on a BMW M! Another color that looks great on cars and gives them a more aggressive and classy look is black. But i agree that white is most of the times a good choice too!
I have been longing for a Dakar Yellow e36 M3 lately.
Red.
Light grey is the perfect option for old school cars π
red…love love love the imola red on E46 BMW…
I agree. White is often hard to better.
White drinks in the background very well. A canvas…
I agree in general, but depends on the mix, i prefer a white made up of a varied colour mix rather than a purer flatter looking shade. Its made a come back here in the UK after being unfashionable for many years.
I used to like white a lot more as well, but then i got a red CRX and am now partial to red. π
Depends on the car, but I rarely see a car that doesn’t look good in white.
Red…
Dark grey or slate grey makes everything look gorgeous.
A rich blue never fails to look good, and is more than often absolutely stunning.
Slate Grey/Medium Grey. Show me a car that does not look good In that.
I am always drawn to black. White blows out the sculptural elements of a cars design IMO. I think it depends on the car though. Some cars just look right in some colors. White Porsches, red Alphas, Black BMWs…. I like white on cars with origami-like design language such as the Aventador or a Lotus Elise. Deep color on more organic shapes.
I would agree in general, but… I actually prefer red for the three cars you mentioned. :p
