From Mini To 993 GT2, Six New Prints From Frederic Dams Have Arrived In The Shop

We’ve proudly offered selections of artwork from Frederic Dams in the Petrolicious Shop for a while now, and today we’re happy to add six more of his prints; three in vibrant color and three in black and white. His style is unique and identifiable after just a few samples, but adaptable enough to explore not just a variety of cars, but contexts.

Take this group for instance. The Ferrari GTO and the Porsche 2.7 RS and GT2 in this group lean toward the technical side with polished sketchbook vibes and a dollop of schematic clarity by way of crisp edges and faithfully rendered details. While the Mini, the Surtees Ferrari, and the surfed-up Isetta depart from these sober but elegant portrayals, oozing personality instead, all six of these pieces are linked through Dams’ stylistic foundation: a sort of hand-drawn-but-not-quite-because-it’s-too-perfect look that puts a modern sheen on his classic subject matter. The artwork is all done on a combination of tablets and other computers after all, though his extensive history with traditional mediums obviously still finds a way to come through.

Dams’ full-time job as a senior designer at Bentley has him focused mainly on interiors of new high-end luxury cars, but as you can see he’s able to look outside of the box/cabin quite easily. For those of you who’d like to buy an original or a print in person, we will be stocking a selection at the Petrolicious Drivers’ Meeting at Bicester Heritage this weekend.
