GALLERY: Take A Closer Look At The 2014 Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition

Celebrating 50 years of anything is an achievement, that’s why this 911 50th Anniversary holds special meaning for Manuel Trueba, for he also turned 50 this year. Every detail, from trim to color, is there for a reason – it harkens back to the very first 911. His love for Porsche dates back to a Christmas morning when he received a special gift that ignited his passion for the 911. Ever since then he has endured waitlists, being told he can’t have one, until now.

There are very few car models that last any amount of time, left alone 50 years. Porsche built 1963 of these models, paying homage to the 911’s debut year. The design was penned by longtime Porsche designer, Tony Hatter, and it has all of the right touches, such as the wide-body from a Carrera 4S.

The first thing you notice when you see it drive by is the updated version of the iconic Fuchs, of course now in a much larger 20-inch size. They even dropped the ride height by 20mm and kept rear-wheel drive.

Once you go inside, there are plenty of cues to remind you where this car came from. The gauges are reminiscent of the original 901, green lettering, white needles, and silver caps. Could this be the ultimate combination of everything we like about the vintage look of a 911 with all the modern conveniences? Manuel certainly thinks so.

It’s no wonder he refused to accept no for answer. Speaking of waiting, we left the best part for last. It comes in a manual. Sadly the price is not the same as it was in 1963.
