Heveningham Concours Once Again Attracts Rare And Beautiful Classics To The Stunning Georgian Estate In Suffolk

The Heveningham Concours has just concluded its annual event at the 5000-acre Georgian Estate situated in the picturesque Suffolk, England countryside. The concours takes place concurrently with the Country Fair that attracts up to 20,000 visitors to the estate each year and for 2019 they were also treated to some very rare and special classic cars and airplanes. Awards were handed out to vehicles in various categories, with a 1934 Alfa Romeo Tipo B Monoposto taking the pre-war class. This car has enjoyed a long and interesting life both on and off track and has now been sympathetically restored.

A 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 was handed the post-war class trophy. It is one of only 330 four-cam cars built and, being the final iteration of this model line, features a 300hp variant of the famed 3.0-liter V12 under its hood. A 1993 Jaguar XJ220S won the supercar class category; it’s one of five TWR modified S models and is fitted with carbon fiber bodywork, numerous aerodynamic aids and the twin-turbo V6 has been tuned to deliver 680hp. This being Bentley’s centenary year, the winner of the Bentley Trophy must have felt even more honored when the 1931 Bentley 8 Liter Roadster was awarded the prize. This car, featuring a two-seater body from coachbuilder Corsica, produced 340hp from its massive 8.0-liter motor and set several Class B international speed records in 1939. It remains unmodified from this record-breaking state to this day.

Sixty cars were exhibited over the two days and spanned vehicles from the very dawn of motoring such as an 1898 Panhard et Lavassor M2F up to the very latest machines like a 2019 Ferrari Monza SP1 and a 2019 Bugatti Chiron Sport. Williams F1 Heritage also displayed four Formula 1 cars, including a Williams-Mercedes FW41 car driven in the 2018 season by Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin. Commenting on this year’s Concours, Max Hunt, chairman of the judging panel, said: “With summer finally arriving just in time, this year’s event has been our most successful to date. A huge thank you to all our owners and, of course, visitors who help to raise lots of money for local charities and provide a full scholarship for a student to undertake the post-graduate MA Intelligent Mobility at the Royal College of Art.”
