How Are You Watching The 24 Hours of Le Mans?

It’s a big year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. From the return of the factory Ford GTs exactly 50 years after their historic win to the recent (as of a few hours ago) post-qualifying rule changes that should keep the race up for grabs until the race is in its last minute. So how best to watch the action unfold live?

If you’ve got cable TV and a modern set-top box, a quick search of the guide should reveal a few time slots where you can watch the race live. But since sports car racing isn’t covered extensively in the U.S., you probably won’t be able to turn the channel and watch all 24 hours. What then?

A number of solutions and workarounds exist, but here’s what we’ll be doing once the green flag drops this weekend. Share how you’ll be watching the race in the comments!

Before the race: just read this awesome post on Reddit. And download the free spotter’s guide from Andy Blackmore Design, we’ve been reading them for years and they’re fantastic…obsessively so!

During the race: Thankfully, the FIA World Endurance Championship relies on none of the outdated broadcast contracts that Formula 1 does, which means watching the race is easy: Go here and pay 9,99€. You’re able to watch every session, replays, change the camera angles, and watch on multiple devices. You can also listen to Radio Le Mans. Live timing is here. If you’d like to do some gaming, er, watch some gaming, Audi and Forza Motorsport have teamed up to run an actual, virtual, 24 Hour race.

“Watch as more than 35 drivers engage in a grueling track battle…” Audi says. Sounds like fun. Many automakers are streaming the race from their onboard cameras as well, including: Ford, Porsche, and Audi.
