Just Because: The Hand Built Motorcycle Show Has To Be Experienced

Our photographer and jewelry-making friend Steve West was recently at the Hand Built Motorcycle Show in Austin, Texas, and sent over a few shots that make us wish we could turn back the clock a few days and experience the event for ourselves.

This is the third year for the rapidly-growing event, held during the MotoGP race weekend—but for nearly anyone with an interest on two-wheeled machines. From lovingly hand-built motorcycles to extreme customs and a few hours of flat track racing in the dirt, there’s little doubt attendees had a great time. The Wall of Death riders even had shows on the hour, every hour across three full days.

What’s your favorite motorcycle from the show?

You can see more of Steve’s work at silverpiston.com and on his Instagram.

Funny thing . I was there as well . And though its a damn sight better than ‘ The One Show ‘ that no one should attend … and despite my admiration for some of the bikes Revival builds [ for the craftsmanship not the creativity or design ] … the ‘ Handbuilt Show ‘ just aint all that great either . 90\% of what shows up being nothing more than the currently ever present hipster wanna be pastiches of a past they barely comprehend . Finding anything even remotely resembling original , unique or creative being all but impossible . But then again … creativity and originality isn’t exactly the hipster/snowflake generations’s forte now … is it !

Gonna have to disagree. I thought it was a great show with a lot of interesting bikes. But then again I’m a 32 year old with a beard that rides a 90’s Ducati, so what do I know.
