The new McLaren GT was only launched in May but customers are already ordering unique versions. Like its stablemates the GT can be personalized through the company’s MSO division to suit each owner’s specific tastes, so to demonstrate the possibilities McLaren will be displaying an MSO fettled GT on the Concept Car Lawn on 18 August at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The inspiration for this model came from iconic British architectural designs, and the seatbacks, sun visor, door cards and armrest are all finished in Geoform stitching patterns also seen on the canopy design of the British Museum. A stunning combination of Flux White and Satin Graphite leather cover the interior surfaces and silver infused carbon fiber trim is used on the gear shift paddles and steering wheel clasps. The exterior is painted in a new MSO Bespoke Satin Graphite hue, which contrasts with an MSO Bright Pack that adds chrome upper window surrounds and polished titanium exhaust tips. Gloss black diamond-cut wheels finish off the package.
“The McLaren GT defies the rules of a conventional Grand Tourer—it maintains the McLaren DNA of a lightweight and engaging drive, while adding in the space, comfort and usability expected of a GT,” said Ansar Ali, managing director of McLaren Special Operations. “We believe that the McLaren GT has class-leading elegance and sophistication, and is the perfect car to further personalize, whether it be through an MSO Defined or MSO Bespoke option, or alternatively, a unique, customer inspired design that MSO delivers a stunning interpretation of.”
The standard 620hp 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 has been left untouched; being capable of a 3.1-second 0-60mph time the GT is already more than capable in this department. Customers can already place their order with McLaren and the GT is set to arrive in the US in the fourth quarter of 2019 with a starting price of $210,000 before options.
