More good news coming from Germany. With that country slowly easing the lockdowns caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Mercedes-Benz has announced it will be opening the doors once again to its museum in Stuttgart.

The Mercedes-Benz Museum, a stunning edifice filled with even more beautiful cars from the company’s storied history, will open on Saturday. For the time being, it will be open just from Fridays to Sundays and closed during the week. Strict social distancing measures will still apply, and visitors must wear a face mask.

“Unfortunately … international guests, school classes and groups of travellers, who normally visit us during the week, are not yet permitted to come by,” says Monja Büdke, Director of the Mercedes-Benz Museum. “This is why we are concentrating on the period from Friday to Sunday. We are mainly expecting local visitors.”

If you aren’t a local visitor, that’s a shame, considering the awe-inspiring history inside those curving walls. The nine-level museum, which opened in 2006, houses more than 160 vehicles, going back to the earliest days of the motorcar, and 1,500 exhibits in its 16,500-square-metre space. Hopefully, the rest of the world will get to enjoy this museum soon.
