Porsche Classics Race For Regularity At Circuit De Catalunya

It’s no secret that we are huge proponents of hardcore vintage racing here at Petrolicious. We’ve been covering it at length since our site launched over 5 years ago, and it will always have a special place in our hearts. But there are some of us out there in the world who may lack the testicular fortitude to go hammers and tongs at a proper circuit in a car that you saved up your entire life to buy. Enter regularity racing, something that I assumed was only relegated to the rally set or the modern day Mille Miglia.

I was invited to experience this casual track weekend in Barcelona at Circuit de Catalunya by my dear friend Alvaro Couso, on behalf of Centro Porsche Barcelona during one of the more interesting time’s in Catalonia’s recent history.

Being a complete novice on the track I was immediately welcomed by friendly faces and laid back car lovers, which is not to say that some guys were not pushing their RSRs – they definitely were. But it was immediately apparent that this was a great day for friends, great driving, and casual competition. Each driver would complete 15 or so laps a session, with the Median time being used as the pace to match.

Needless to say I wasn’t terribly dialed, although I was apparently top three on the team. Off by a wide margin however as our team took home the gold.

I have to admit a feeling of proud, about this article. After six years of participation in regularity races with Porsche ( yes, do not hesitate, this is as well racing ) I can see my loved Porsche 968 nicely pictured in the Petrolicious webpage, my favorite after work relaxing virtual visit. If anyone is intrigued how regularity rules apply to circuit racing, just ask me.

I must admit that when I first saw the title of this article, Race For Regularity, I thought it meant something completely different
