The car

As part of its Private Sales initiative, Petrolicious is proud to offer this museum-grade, impeccably preserved, and concours-ready 1989 Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO I. Showing only 21,401 kilometers from new, we believe acquiring this EVO I example is an exceptionally rare opportunity, unlikely to be repeated in today’s market. We also believe this example is among the lowest mileage ones in the world.

The Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO I was developed from DTM racing to challenge BMW in the German touring car championship. Built to meet Group A homologation requirements, it featured a Cosworth-tuned engine producing 202 hp, along with aerodynamic upgrades like a rear spoiler and wider fender flares for improved downforce and handling. With a revised suspension for racing demands, the EVO I set the stage for Mercedes’ later dominance in DTM and paved the way for the more aggressive EVO II. Both models reflect the close link between motorsport and street-legal performance cars.

Servicing history – Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO I #598552 spent most of its life in Japan, where it sat essentially dormant for the better part of 20+ years, covering only 21,000 kilometers. It then went on to Australia, where it was acquired in the late 2010’s , before being imported into the USA by the previous owner. The current owner had the vehicle thoroughly serviced and the car is now ready for its next custodian.

Our thoughts on this Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO I

Our Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO I #598552 is quite simply the best EVO I example currently available for sale, and it very well might be the best one ever available for sale, as we are not aware of any other 190E EVO I’s with lower mileage. Acquiring chassis #598552 represents an unrepeatable opportunity to take part in Mercedes-Benz’ history. Please do not hesitate to inquire about the car via email or phone.
