The car

As part of its Private Sales initiative, Petrolicious is proud to offer this museum-grade, impeccably preserved, and concours-ready 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO II. Showing only 176.0 kilometers from new, we believe acquiring this EVO II example is an exceptionally rare opportunity, unlikely to be repeated in today’s market. We also believe this example to be the 2nd lowest mileage one in the world, as we are aware of a lower mileage car located inside the borders of Russia.

The 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO II was born out of Mercedes’ ambition to dominate the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM), Germany’s premier touring car championship in the late 1980s and early 1990s. As DTM regulations required manufacturers to base their race cars on production models, Mercedes developed the EVO II as a homologation special, producing only 502 units for road use. Furthermore, the EVO II introduced significant upgrades over the EVO I, primarily in aerodynamics, engine performance, and handling. Its bold, wind tunnel-tested body kit featured a larger rear wing and front splitter for improved downforce and high-speed stability. The 2.5-liter engine was also more powerful, delivering 235 horsepower compared to the EVO I’s 204 hp. The EVO II’s adjustable suspension, larger 17-inch wheels, and enhanced chassis provided sharper handling and a more responsive driving experience, making it better suited for both the track and the road. These refinements solidified its dominance in DTM racing.

Condition | exterior

Body – All panels are original and matching on this Mercedes. The vehicle has never been involved in any road incident, and no corrosion is noted on or under the car. The front bumper, side skirts, and air intakes are free of rock chips or scratches; no Paint Protection Film is applied to the car.

Underbody – Pictures of the undercarriage can be found here, showing no signs of corrosion.

Paint – This Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO II rolled off the production line in stunning “Blauschwarz” metallic paint (code 199). Paint thickness measurements are available on demand, but potential buyers should be aware that this is essentially a brand new car and that it is free of any defect, including paint defects.

Servicing history – Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO II #741313 spent most of its life in Germany, where it sat dormant for the better part of 20+ years. Prior to its German ownership, the car had barely ever been driven, and was thus not serviced either. The 3rd (and previous) owner acquired the car in the late 2010’s, and the 4th owner acquired the car late in 2023.

Original & Matching Motor?: Yes.
Original & Matching Transmission?: Yes.
Original Exhaust System?: Yes.

Wheels – The wheels are original units and show literally no signs of usage.

Our thoughts on this Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO II

Our Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO II #741313 is quite simply the best EVO II example currently available for sale, and it very well might be the best one ever available for sale. The only other known example with lower mileage is located in the internationnaly sanctionned country of Russia, heavily limiting any potential trade activities. Acquiring chassis #741313 represents an unrepeatable opportunity to take part in Mercedes-Benz’ history. This museum quality example will forever cement your place in the manufacturer’s story.
