The car
As part of its Private Sales initiative, Petrolicious is proud to offer a unique S54-swapped 1993 BMW E30 Touring Design Edition built to OEM performance and design standards. This meticulously maintained 1993 BMW E30 ‘Wagon’ Design Edition represents a stunning blend of classic design and modern performance, thanks to a comprehensive series of upgrades and extensive refurbishment by its mechanical engineer owner.
Producing 338 horsepower from an S54 BMW M3 swap, this 1993 BMW E30 Touring ‘Design Edition’ was meticulously crafted over more than 300 hours. The 1,170 kilograms RWD family wagon now offers a power-to-weight ratio which matches the one of a 991.1 Porsche 911 Carrera, produces a fantastic symphony from its inline-six engine and performance stainless steel exhaust system, and drivers like an absolute charm.
Under the hood
Under the hood, an S54 engine from the E46 BMW M3 breathes new life into this iconic chassis, paired with a custom A2B Performance stainless steel exhaust system that not only sounds incredible but also optimizes power delivery with dual 2.5-inch pipes, an X-pipe, and a high-flow catalytic converter. The engine is fed by a Karbonius CSL carbon airbox, ensuring maximum air intake efficiency.
Every aspect of this vehicle has been carefully considered, from the Beisan Vanos bulletproofing, which includes upgraded seals, a chain guide, and solenoid coil pack, to the installation of ACL rod bearings, ensuring durability under high-stress conditions. Complementing these upgrades, the vehicle benefits from a new Valeo engine starter, a complete shifter bushing refresh, and an overhaul of every engine gasket, ensuring reliability and longevity. All fluids have been replaced with OEM or better, and the cooling system has been enhanced with a new water pump, thermostat, and a Spal 16-inch electric fan.
Brakes, handling & attention to detail
The entire braking system has been overhauled, featuring a Wilwood front big brake kit, stainless steel braided lines, and a Porsche 944 brake booster for unmatched stopping power. Additionally, the rear subframe has been reinforced and powder-coated to handle the increased power, while the suspension has been upgraded with Bilstein shocks, H&R springs, and Ireland Engineering sway bars to deliver an exceptional driving experience.
The attention to detail continues with a Redline Motorsport engine swap wiring harness and custom Bayside Fabrication oil pan and subframe modifications, which ensure seamless integration of the S54 engine into the E30 chassis. Inside, an E46 M3 style gauge face and OEM Z3M shift lever add a modern touch to the interior, while an OEM Z3M engine harness has been used to relocate the ECU into the glovebox for a cleaner engine bay.
