Renowned collector classic cars auction house RM Sotheby’s is offering a 2005 Maserati MC12 and 1925 Bugatti Type 35 for sale without reserve during its Paris sale in February next year.
Over 60 classic cars will go under the hammer
During RM Sotheby’s fifth annual sale during the world-famous Rétromobile show week, and half of the entries are already confirmed to be for sale without reserve.
One of the anticipated stars of the show is a long-term owned 1925 Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix, which is expected to fetch between €950,000 and €1,050,000. This car, chassis number 4394, was delivered new to French nobleman Georges Cholmondeley ‘Lord Rocksavage’. The lot is described as displaying ‘lovely original patina and is offered in excellent condition complete with original chassis, body, gearbox, axles, and differential’.
Also listed without reserve is a 2005 Maserati MC12, one of only 50 built. The Ferrari Enzo counterpart has covered only 12,500km and comes with a lower estimate of €2,000,000.
A 1958 BMW 507 Roadster Series II is also expected to sell for over seven figures. Of note, it has only had two owners since new – the first, remarkably, keeping hold of the BMW until 2004 – and has been maintained by the same BMW-trained mechanic from new. It carries a €1,600,000 to €1,800,000 estimate.
RM Sotheby’s European auction manager Augustin Sabatié-Garat said: ‘Early auction highlights cover all segments of the collector car market, from pre-war racers through to the most advanced classic cars of today.
‘We’re equally excited that we’re able to bring so many of these cars to auction for the very first time, whether it is for their original or long-term owners. In today’s buyer’s market, it is the truly special examples like the 507 and the 400 GT that stand out.’
The sale takes place on 7 February, 2018, at Place Vauban, Paris, France.
