Start Your Day Don Draper Style

Don Draper is a man who goes after what he wants. Whether or not he gets it is a completely different story. But beginning each day clean shaven and drinking a black coffee, usually because he’s hung over, he prepares himself for success that he can usually undo with one thoughtless action. A General Motors man through and through (except for a day-long flirtation with a Jaguar), Don drove a Buick for a year or so on his way to conquering the Madison Ave. advertising industry, before he imploded. Why not take the Don Draper approach and see if you can achieve Don-Draper-like results? Er, the positive ones that is.

Just make sure you do it stylishly. Check out our suggestions below and see what you can accomplish when you’re fresh and ready to seize opportunities.

1. Espresso Coffee Maker – “Made from 18/10 stainless steel and thermoplastic resin. An unusual designer and independent thinker, very much part of the Dutch scene while still being a one-off, Wiel Arets does not follow trends nor is he easy to pigeonhole…he is a master in the use of materials, either in their raw form or surprisingly sophisticated, the central theme of his designs is not the sculptural or iconic elaboration of form, unlike many of his colleagues, but tends towards a condensation and intensification that creates the special aura of lightness and consistency which characterises his work.”

2. Bodum Pavina Double-wall Thermo Glasses – “The Pavina Double Wall Glasses keep hot drinks hot without burning fingers and cold drinks cold without messy condensation, making them the ideal vessels for every beverage, from cocktails to cocoa. So you’ll only need to buy one type of glass for your home!”

3. Sir Jack’s Leather Military Wash Kit – Sir Jack’s military wash kit “is handcrafted in England, inspired by a classic 20th century British military issue wash roll design. A luxury travel accessory updated with a supple black leather exterior and red waterproof-lined compartments to hold essential travel toiletries items.”

4. Dr. Harris & Co. Ltd. Three-piece Shaving Kit – Perfect for packing in Sir Jack’s Leather Military Wash kit is this elegant three piece shaving set embossed with the D. R. Harris logo, which will grace any bathroom. The razor takes Gillette Mach 3 blades and the shaving brush with the chrome base is of medium weight. Storing the brush in this way ensures it will dry correctly and will prolong the brush life.

The statement about Don being a GM man technically isn’t true; he drove a ’61 Dodge Polara in early season two before buying a Cadillac.

True, but he did also drive the Buick, a Cadillac and an Oldsmobile… we can forgive a GM man one Dodge, can’t we?

Hey, don’t knock style over substance. What else would have given us the Nash Metropolitan?

So then brush up on style if you’ve already got the Substance. Every man should have a bit of Don in their lives. Just not the bad bits 😉
