It’s difficult to imagine the work that goes into one of Stéphane Dufour’s automotive sculptures until you visit his shop. These hand-made 1:18-scale Porsche 917s, for instance: each is meticulously crafted by hand, using an ingenious process.
First, Dufour first mixes and colors liquid resin before pouring it into a mold. Once set, its final form is treated to gentle sanding, paint, and a final polish—all done by Stéphane and then shipped out.
A multi-disciplined artist who now works with everything from painting to apparel, he’s been sketching cars—and only cars—from a young age. Since producing his first more than 10 years ago, he’s only worked in small batches, replicating models he loves. Porsches in general, but the 917 race car in particular, tends to lend itself to being reenvisioned in its purest form.
