Mr. Dwight Knowlton sought to fill a void that existed for car lovers by writing and illustrating a charming children’s book, The Little Red Racing Car, due to his own frustration in finding a book that captured his emotion and fervor for vintage cars, which he could eventually share with his newborn son. The story is about Sir Striling Moss’s Maserati 300S that was ultimately lost to time. We covered the story and it did successfully fund on Kickstarter, last year.
Now Dwight has written a new book about Sir Stirling’s record-shattering run in the 1955 Mille Miglia, The Greatest Race, which is actually true! It’s the story of Sir Stirling Moss and his navigator Mr. Denis Jenkinson in the new Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR–an innovative and purpose-built racing machine. “It’s the story of Sir Stirling sliding the SLR around blind mountain curves. Blasting through small villages at over 100MPH. Jumping a bridge at more than 150–and flying 150 feet through the air! Even overtaking a twin-engine airplane filming the race… TWICE.”
Based on his previous effort we can’t wait to see the results of his current endeavor. If you’d like to help fund this or just find out more, click here.
