Brabham Automotive has just announced its Pro-Am driver lineup for the upcoming Britcar ‘Into The Night’ race at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit on November 9-10. To set the scene for this iconic racing marque’s return to motorsport, David Brabham, the company’s Sporting Director will return to the cockpit to debut the Brabham BT62, following in his father’s footsteps by racing a car of his own construction.

David Brabham has amassed a string of impressive results over the years including three American Sports Car Championship titles as well as numerous endurance event wins, including multiple 24 Hours of Le Mans victories and an outright win for Peugeot in 2009. Will Powell will be joining Brabham on the grid; he is a beneficiary of Brabham Automotive’s Driver Development Program and has previous experience racing GT and sports prototypes.

Brabham is excited about the return of this iconic brand to motorsport: “I always wondered what my father must have felt when he first raced a Brabham on track and I am now about to go through that same emotion. Driving a Brabham BT62 on Brabham straight at Brands Hatch will be a very special moment for me. It will also be an incredible milestone for Brabham Automotive as it brings this iconic marque back to racing.”

Will Powell, too, said that he was looking forward to the coming race: “It is a tremendous honor to be asked to race the Brabham BT62 in its first race. David Brabham and I have been doing all we can to prepare and it’s been great to learn from him. I’m thankful to the Brabham Automotive board of directors for the opportunity and will give it everything to do the car justice on what promises to be a very special night.”

Brabham’s return to the racing scene after a 27-year hiatus has been much-anticipated and this race at Brands Hatch is the first step towards the ultimate goal of competing at Le Mans in 2020. The Brabham BT62 has shown a lot of promise in pre-race testing but now it will need to prove itself in the rigors of a no-holds-barred race. One thing is for sure, the season finale of hte Britcar Endurance Championship is going to be an unmissable event.
