Autoexpo in Pistoia (Tuscany) is an amazing exhibition organized by Pistoia Corse and the Veteran Car Club Pistoia. Autoexpo was one of the most famous car exhibitions in Italy until 1995 and, after a long pause, the passion of the people forming the Veteran Club has helped to bring it to light again in 2014. During an entire weekend, Autoexpo becomes a gathering place for the automotive world with a magnificent historical and modern racing car exhibition, debates, seminars, and many visitors—entrance was free, too.

Many cars are shown, thanks to the collaboration with many collectors. Attendees were fascinated by cars such as the Jaguar E-Type, Alfa Romeo 33/3, Lancia Stratos, “Martini Racing” Lancia Delta Integrale, the Delta S4, the Fulvia HF, and the great little Abarth 850 by Zagato.

A fantastic collection of motorcycles and bicycles is also shown, and even non-cars can arouse fascination and interest, too. So will looking at these successful machines and remembering the races of the past when there was no satellite navigation—competitions like the Paris-Dakar were conquered for years using using only maps and compass.

Events like this seem to becoming rare; we must be grateful to those who spend time and money to try and keep the interest in motorsport alive. Why? Because to really enjoy the Formula 1 or MotoGP races on TV, it’s rewarding to learn the history, evolution, and the hard work that goes into every vehicle.
