Watching The Start Of The Mille Miglia Is An Incredible Sight

As car guys our inclusive hobby can often feel a bit isolating from mainstream culture. Not always of course, Los Angeles for instance is essentially a gigantic rolling car show, but for the most part there can be moments where you are somewhat on your own. Not so in Italy, and especially not so in Brescia at the beginning of the Mille Miglia.

Every single resident of this industrial town in the North of Italy turns out to soak up the sun as it beams off bumpers and bonnets. The town center is turned upside down, the restaurants are jam-packed, Aperol Spritzes are flowing like water, and everyone is gawking at the gorgeous cars. It is truly one of the few places on earth where you are entirely in sync with your surroundings as a car guy (or girl).

It was my great pleasure to spend the day there last week, strolling around with a cocktail in one hand and a camera in the other, soaking up la dolce vita. These are some of the better shots I managed to fire off before the sun got the better of me. Enjoy!
