Besides wishing every new car was available with dark green paint, I’ve noticed that classic cars with original paint are often finished in a striking color. Be it a cheery ’60s pastel blue or a Ricardo Montalbán-grade ’70s metallic bronze, I often wonder what, say, the Bullitt Mustang’s Highland Green paint would look like on the rumored Toyota S-FR.
And why not? Classic cars have given us some of the most beautiful hues ever seen on a machine, let alone anywhere in nature.
A few years ago, I stumbled on nuancierds.fr, a fantastic enthusiast website devoted to the many colors offered on the Citroën DS…both inside and out. None, however, were as outrageous as the for-1959-only Bleu Delphinium, a color that is probably too loud for even a Pagani Huayra. It’s a non-metallic, almost neon…periwinkle?
An extreme example, surely, but which classic color would look great even today?
