For me, Thanksgiving weekend has traditionally been reserved for revisiting my hometown dive bar, running into high school pals who have had a bit too much to drink, and generally speaking waking up bleary eyed on my childhood twin bed, staring at the model F4U Corsair dangling from my ceiling.
This Thanksgiving however I was staying with my friends Eric Dean and Gwen Barker at Rimrock Ranch in Pioneertown California, near Yucca Valley. You may recall Eric’s GT40 from a feature I ran on it a few months ago. It’s an RCR recreation that he actually fabricated a load of parts for.
Rimrock Ranch has since blossomed into something of an automotive oasis, routinely hosting car clubs for daily and weekend retreats. The star of the show however remains Eric’s killer GT40. It quite literally was begging for a photoshoot on Turkey day, so we woke up before the dawn and blasted down Pipes Canyon. Needless to say the results were tremendous.
If you’re ever out that way make sure you give Eric a ring. He’s on Instagram at @EricDean and @RimrockRanch
