Autodromo’s Latest Watch Is A Group B Homage We Can Get Behind

In a marketplace full of pseudo-homage racing watches and poorly made dash clock ripoffs, we’re glad that there are small shops like Autodromo doing what it does. We’ve been fans of every single timepieces it has put out, not just because the firm is creating killer-looking wrist candy, but because it actually pulls inspiration from automotive heritage. We do the same at Petrolicious, and appreciate that Autodromo creates in such a way as to not cheapen history. We’re proud to partner with them on the announcement of their latest timepiece, “Group B”.

As Bradley Price, Autodromo’s founder and designer puts it: “The Group B era was arguably the last romantic era of motorsport. It was a time of unfettered technical ingenuity, space age exotic materials and turbo-boosted horsepower”. We happen to fully agree with this sentiment, and think it makes a heck of a lot of sense to build a watch that keeps that mantra in mind.

The Group B watch tips its hat to exotic materials of the period by utilizing an ultra-light combination of titanium and stainless steel. The case itself is even constructed using Group B-style techniques, comprised of multiple pieces bonded together through delightfully visible lugs, keeping the automatic movement secure inside a tight titanium package.

Each timepiece comes in a hand-crafted aluminum box with number plaque, and is equipped with two nylon straps inspired by racing harnesses, which can be changed on the fly with no tools. Included is one strap in gray, and one strap that matches the color of the dial markings.
