“De Tomaso Pantera” may not translate to “power metal” in English, but this 1972 GTS model certainly embodies those words.

A balanced and blue-printed 351ci (5.7L) Cleveland V8 from Ford certainly helps. Its output is filtered through a five-speed ZF transmission and although this 21,000-mile exotic has its original wheels and mini-spare, it also has numerous upgrades that were recommended by the Pantera Owners Club of America and the Eastern Pantera Association. New OEM parts came from Hall Pantera and Panteras by Wilkinson.

Including those and the POCA/EPA improvements, this Guards-Red-on-black-leather number features “electronic ignition, new carb, battery, regulator, alternater [sic], starter, fuel pump, (and) fuse block.”

Professional soundproofing and undercoating prevent the music from the big American motor and road noise from getting too loud in the cockpit. A tuned suspension should help the future owner keep this rust-free California specimen shiny-side-up and able to perform several more concerts via screeching tires and growling exhaust.

I love it! Seriously one of my favorite cars – but the chock under back wheel and the missing windscreen wipers did make me chuckle.
