Coterie Press puts out a steady flow of high-quality automotive books, many of which we’re happy to offer in the Petrolicious Shop. Today we’ve added another batch. Some are brand new to our shelves, others are limited-quantity Publisher’s Editions of existing titles with the silver foil, leather bound covers, and signatures to show for it—not just any old scrawls either, the JPS book below is autographed by Fittipaldi and Andretti.
All of these photo-heavy volumes make for excellent additions to (or foundations for) a quality stack of coffee table material, and they’re too pretty to put anywhere but the focal point of your library. These aren’t solely about the imagery though, and the accompanying text gets into the stories that surrounded these cars, their creators, and their drivers, in a way that captions could never do justice on their own. Data tables are supplemented by anecdotes and legend-has-its, and the read is never dull even when it’s focusing on the former.
Black & Gold: The Story of the John Player Specials (INFO & ORDERING)
Black & Gold: The Story of the John Player Specials, is the result of a veritable wealth of knowledge and experiences from all the “players” in a story that started in the early 1970s and went through to the end of 1986 with Ayrton Senna and Johnny Dumfries driving. The black & gold cars are still recognized and passionately remembered the world over.
Black & Gold is a sumptuous 316-page, 11″x11″ with hardcover book with jacket, and the 129,000 words are amply illustrated by over 798 images. There are specification details on every JPS race car and the book includes race results for all John Player Team Lotus races.
Two Publishers Editions in addition to the standard book

Each of these signed and numbered editions is autographed by one of two racing legends. Or, you can order one of 79 copies signed by Mario Andretti, who won the F1 title driving a Lotus 79 in the 1978 season.
