As a former two-time MINI owner, I was thrilled recently to have been contacted by Alex Sitbon from White Roof Radio (WRR) to appear on their podcast. WRR is a MINI enthusiast site, specializing in podcasts primarily, but not exclusively, about the MINI brand.
The interview itself was a most pleasant experience. Speaking with Alex and the WRR gang was akin to getting together with your favorite car friends and talking cars over drinks.
We covered many topics from Petrolicious’s history and how it came to be, as well as how I got the car bug at an early age, but particularly interesting to some of you might be the discussion about our production process, how we select candidates for our films, and why we cover the whole of the classic car world.
In addition to fun topics like the ahem reliability of vintage Alfa Romeos, misconception of price as a barrier to entry in classic cars, and the upcoming Alfa Romeo sedan, Alex made me reveal some of our plans for 2015 at Petrolicious that I think may interest you.
The truth of it is, I am a bit gratified by this entire incident with “mr. Tj”. After all of the many abusive posts by this one person it has revealed how much all of us really enjoy Petrolicious. It has brought out the gratitude of the readers of this website and we do hope that Afshin and the entire staff at Petrolicious realize it. Thank you as always for what is the best automotive website on the Internet. IMHO
I’m very much looking forward to listening to this when I get a moment later this evening! As always, the Petrolicious team gives me something to look forward to. The only thing I don’t look forward to is some of the more abrasive antics of one particular poster. I would very much appreciate the addition of an ‘ignore user’ function so I could simply avoid looking at his postings; it would dramatically improve the site 😉
I was wondering how long you would tolerate this nut case. What kind of sicko continues to post when it is pretty clear the community has had enough. Another site I post at in addition to requiring registration to post has vote up and vote down. If your post is voted down it is collapsed automatically and marked toxic. You have to click a couple of times on it after if you really want to see it. Also if you get to many vote downs the admins moderate your posts and then ban you if you can’t play nice. Pity it has to come to this.
Nice interview, looking forward to many more great videos.
Personally I don’t think moderation is necessary, if you don’t like a poster simply skip over those comments.
As per your comment about Alfas, I think most Alfisti consider the 75/Milano the last “real” Alfa. Rear wheel drive, a true drivers car that can be bought cheap and with a few known fixes is very reliable.
TJ Martin is nothing more than an internet coward. I doubt very much that he has the guts to make his obnoxious comments in person, or face to face. He seems to relish creating a hostile environment in a desperate attempt for attention by using what little knowledge he has to bludgeon others that might have a different opinion. I have read all his previous posts and this is one seriously sick and disturbed individual. I feel that it’s time for him to go. TJ, I have just two words for you and they’re not “lets dance” … wink wink !
So … I’m curious . Is part of your agenda for 2015 to finally be done with all the revisionist history crap , the blatant inaccuracies of late , as well as the perpetuating of Myth & Hyperbole … not to mention trying to create a few ‘ myths ‘ of your own … and finally coming back to the realm of historical accuracy as well as Facts & Reality …
… or can we expect more of the same old same old SSDD ? Which in truth seems to have a bit of a blatant agenda in and of its self . Self serving …. or otherwise …. my guess being … otherwise
For the life of me, I can’t imagine how Petrolicious ever got off the ground without the wisdom and tact of TJ Martin guiding their every step. Indeed, this site better snap him up soon before some other outlet hires him as their resident expert in automotive history and oracle for whatever may come.
My suggestion, for what it is worth, would be to have a ‘dislike’ icon alongside the ‘love’ icon. After a certain number of people have read a ‘contributors’ comments and felt compelled to press the dislike button, the offending diatribe could then qualify for removal from view by the website moderator.
Afshin, I’m sure that the majority of us will applaud whatever steps you decide to take to prevent offensive comments from remaining on the site. As it stands, they seriously detract from enjoying this brilliant website.
