Special Edition DBS Superleggera Created For The 50th Anniversary Of The Bond Film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
Aston Martin has a long and distinguished history with the James Bond franchise and the On Her Majesty’s Secret Service DBS Superleggera special edition is the latest in a series of 007 inspired Aston’s to be revealed. Taking inspiration from the DBS featured in the 1969 film, the modern-day equivalent is based on the latest incarnation of this super GT and comes with a number of bespoke features to set the planned production of 50 cars apart.
Andy Palmer, Aston Martin Lagonda President and Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “Aston Martin is synonymous with James Bond, and the DBS from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service has provided great inspiration to the team tasked with creating this very special edition. This new DBS Superleggera will be an extremely distinguished ‘brute in a suit’, designed to capture the essence of the iconic DBS from the 1969 film but with a 5.2 liter twin-turbo V12, 715bhp engine!”
The OHMSS DBS is finished in a unique Olive Green exterior color, evoking memories of the original car and features a bespoke metal grille with bright horizontal vanes mimicking the same feature on the older DBS. A set of unique 21-inch wheels and discrete commemorative badging finish off the exterior changes.
The interior offers up a mix of black leather, gray Alcantara and red accents, which were inspired by the red-trimmed glovebox which held Bond’s telescopic-sight rifle in the original car. While the DBS Superleggera will not be offered with this particular option, owners will be able to specify a bespoke drinks case that can hold two bottles of champagne and four champagne flutes.
Aston Martin Vice President & Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman said: “Creating a James Bond special edition is always an exciting challenge as we work to create a car that embodies the legend of James Bond, and the original movie car. The DBS Superleggera is a muscular car that commands attention, but the Olive Green gives it a subtlety that belies the beast beneath.” The DBS Superleggera OHMSS special edition joins the Goldfinger DB5 continuation and the 2015 DB9 GT Bond Edition models later this year, each of the 50 examples will retail for £300,007 ($380,000).
