This LA House Is A Gearhead’s Playground
For those who have an affinity for beauty in both architecture and automotive – as well a sizable bank account – a hilltop house in Los Angeles satisfies those aesthetic needs in typical southern California style.
The 15,642 square-foot residence at 1301 Collingwood Place is a masterpiece of modern architecture and offers unparalleled views of the city. Designed by Olson Kundig, the house and outdoor areas took six years to build and was finished in 2018, so it’s practically new. Of course, it features two giant pools, five bedrooms and seven-and-a-half baths, and generous open space for entertaining those Hollywood parties.
But for the auto enthusiast, a giant 15-car ‘auto gallery’ may not feature any lifts or tool boxes, but it does offer a beautiful space to show off your classic car collection. You do have one, of course…?
For some racing thrills, a built-in virtual driving simulator with wraparound screens can let you join in on the iRacing craze. And when the kids are around, challenge them for victory with the giant slot-car racetrack called the Kippway, complete with elevation changes, a Dunlop bridge and Le Mans-style pit area.
And the price? ‘If you have to ask…’ as the saying goes. But if you insist, it’s $62 million. You might have to sell a few cars from that collection.
