Vintage Tire Posters You’d Actually Want In Your Living Room

There’s something about vintage posters that makes nearly any subject living room-worthy, and that includes tires. Among the many treasures to be auctioned by Potter & Potter September 19-20 includes a large selection of vintage posters and advertising, depicting everything from foreign films to makeup.

One group caught our eye, however. Lots 777-791 in the auction catalogue are Goodyear tire posters, and it takes a lot for us to fathom putting something treaded on the wall. All printed in 1937, they’re Goodyear’s attempt at selling its wares, from “LifeGuard Tubes” to touting the mileage benefits of its tires. All sharply illustrated, with old-timey slogans and concerns—like rising tire prices—we have been combing through the selection and trying to figure out if any would match our couch particularly well…

If tires aren’t your thing, may we draw your attention to Lot #769, a fetching La Carrera Panamericana silkscreened poster from 1950. Yours for an estimated $1,200-1,500. The Goodyear posters? Each has an estimate of $150-200.

We have a very nice bicycle tire poster from Michelin in a frame in the great room . Doubt that it’s really very old or worth any $$ but we enjoy it just the same.
