When I was 10 my father brought home a dicast model of a blue 1600S Rally from a business trip; a car I knew nothing about. Within the year my interest in supercars waned and was replaced with magazine articles and doodles of a Lancia Stratos in Africa Rally trim, Mini Coopers, Escorts, R5 Turbos, and the mighty Alpines.

I saw my first 1600S in Toronto, Canada two years ago within a few blocks from my house – it was more menacing in person. Thanks for the memories and another inspiring story.

Wonderful video on one of my all-time favourite cars. Deliberately held back watching this one until I had some time to properly enjoy it – was worth the wait.

Great story of passion! I now officially have an Alpine on my lust list:) May I ask who created this video and what camera was used? The cinematography is truly beautiful and pairs great with this story.

Hey, I created this and the cam used was a GH4/LX100-Combo.

Another home run, Afshin and crew. Also, it’s nice to see the featured cars rung out a little bit as Jurgen did. Love to hear that full note roar of carbs and exhaust!

Just beautiful.

Thanks for sharing.

Very cinematique.

Also one of my favorite cars. Just looks right to drive.

Superbe!!!! As they say in French. Kudos to Petrolicious and Jurgen on a fine video and commentary on the legendary jean Redele & Giovanni Michelotti designed masterpiece.

When I see passions like his, in amazing films like you did here, I get doubts if my dream car is really a 911.
Fantastic job guys. Great film and even better story!

Errr .. as much as I love A110’s as well in light of the A110’s current pricing [ stratospheric is putting it mildly ] along with lack of availability might I suggest maintaining the 911 dream keeping the A110 as your Unobtainium Unicorn ?

And to think I passed on one of these [ road version ] on the cheap back in the 70’s . Eeesh … So much for my Wednesday …… sigh ……………….

The Alpine A110 is one of my absolute favourites. Even if my heart says Alfa Romeo, I would love to own one. Seeing Jurgens passion and determination, just confirms what it is all about: The passion us petrolheads share across borders, languages and cultures. Great video – looking forward to see the Californian car culture in person in just two weeks!

What a delight. Both Jurgen and his Renault’s. Magnifique!

Good lord ! The only thing almost better than Jurgen’s cars is his bicycle and bicycling memorabilia collection ! It is amazing just how many GearHeads and racers got their starts with bicycles as well as how many including Alain Prost and Walter Rohrl continue on well past their retirement . Then factor in the reality that most all M/C and automotive manufactures came out of bicycling not to mention the entire aero industry and ….

….. seriously Petrolicious . Take a minor detour and send Jacopo to do a video feature on Dario Pegoretti and his incredible all steel hand made and hand painted two wheeled rolling works of art . You’ll be glad that you did !

Great video by the way .. not to mention a great subject [ both the car and Jurgen ]

TJ,
If you’re into bicycling, check out Derek’s vintage Italian bicycle collection in the very first film we published:

Thanks ! Derek like Jurgen sounds like a guy I’d gladly knock a couple of glasses back with though I’m guessing Jurgen and I would have more common ground as well as a common friend or two .

And truly .. if its got gears e.g. ; Cars , M/C’s , Steam Trains , Vintage Planes and Bicycles . .. I’m probably into it to one extent or another but especially Cars , Motorcycles [ Vincents specifically ] and Bicycles [ hand built steel and classics along with a love for all things Moots n’ Moultons ]
