there’s a lot to see here in details.. i’m a sucker for trip’d out moves like the air n’take pod imbedded in this car’s grill, neighboring the starboard headlight. For such a light car, I would of expected it to be moving along a better clip, pushed by 400 ponies . Also, man that mid muffler hangs mighty low . Or is that for pyrotechnic events !

Not at all my kind of car but… I think this is my new favorite video. Great car, and the owner is my sort of person.

This is such a singular build.

The paint scheme certainly makes the car feel contemporary. Apparently the paint code is one from a current Lamborghini color. As it happens Savant Young’s car is published other places, and these provide supporting information. For instance Jay Leno also interviews Savant Young, following a chance meeting between the two of them at the Petersen Museum.

The currently engine in the car is from an RX7, and runs to extremely high levels (9,000 RPM) before hitting the factory cut-off. In order to turn at this rate, this specific engine uses oil mixed directly with the fuel like a two stroke.

Most of Savant’s effort to this point in time seems to have been focussed on the engine, drive train and body work. Rear suspension is done with leaf springs. Since the engine is from an RX7, the engine builder-tuner was able to reach to the range of aftermarket components developed for and by race tuners for that car.

The parts and knowledge of that RX7 tuner community really seem to be the foundation for a lot of Young has done here.

I’m a huge Mazda fan and fascinated by their rotary engines. This car looks amazing.

I am curious what he means by “aerospace components” in the front brakes.

Aerospace Components is a company in Tampa Florida which produces high performance and specialty brakes mostly for drag racing, but also for high power/weight ratio street cars. They have a line of brakes for lightweight street cars under 2,400 pounds. So Savant Young is probably referring to a this brand of components.

My uncle has a Mazda 818 sedan – rare car then (late 70´s/ early 80’s), even rarer now!

Thanks for another nice film (btw, nice soundtrack)
