Is This The Easiest Way To Go Racing In A Porsche 935?

In my mind, what makes this entire package so appealing is that both the car and the truck were created by people outside of Porsche; in fact, the ‘935’ began life as a road-going 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo. The truck, who knows, it could have been an ice cream van. 

Because you won’t read “ex-Works” in Auctionata’s description means the online-only auction house will open bidding for lot 19 at just €120,000, which in Germany is about what you’d pay for a new Porsche Cayenne Turbo and zero options. This means that someone, somewhere, will be the final bidder and instantly 3/4 of the way there to going racing.

Without factory pedigree, it’s also not too precious to race. In Group 5 trim, its 3.2-litre turbocharged flat-6 is said to produce 610 horsepower, along with it all of the braking, suspension, and aerodynamic improvements from the fastest 935s. It’s fast, and said to be in its element on long endurance races.

Along with the car comes its very own moving garage, a recently-built Magirus Deutz transporter modelled after official Porsche factory team trucks. It rocks a 10-litre V8 diesel motor and unsynchronized 3-speed manual transmission, so be sure to practice before loading your new race car. The truck is not a bad extra, though it’s noted that, “the vehicle has been out of service since 2011 and requires a new main vehicle inspection for new registration.”
